So, to follow up on the storm situation, my in-laws have gone home to where they have power. We still do not have power, PSE says it is probably three days away. Our generator basically shook itself apart and I am going to have to take it in for repairs before it is useable again. My in-laws' generator has something wrong with it and stalls out after 15 minutes or so. As a result, we are truly without power now.
And to follow up on my post about the British serial killer, as Memophage pointed out, the authorities got a suspect, but he is denying everything at this point. In fact, the police now have two suspects in custody. If it's a serial killer team, that will be interesting. Those are very rare.

Sorry to hear about the power being out....but how are you blogging?
Thank you for not using word verification!
Rawbean - I believe he's blogging from work.
Mattbear - Having no power must suck, but it could give you an excuse to barbeque, granted it's in the cold, but any excuse to light fires and cook meat is okay in my book.
Yeah, I'm blogging at work. Work is pretty slow right now due to holidays.
Yeah, I could BBQ, but I took all the meat out of my freezer and took it to Launchpad's. We've mostly been eating out since the generator broke.
So, do John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo count as serial killers?
They definitely fit the dictionary definition, if not necessarily the "up close and personal" sort of killings you generally associate with serial killers.
That would put them in the "rare team" category though.
Yes, they definitely qualify as serial killers, and they are in the rare team category.
"Up close" isn't part of the definition, it's just the most common. For serial killers, the killing is such a personal thing that it is a) usually done close-up, and b) done alone.
I think after they've been examined and studied, they will be considered "rage" killers - angry with themselves and the world so much that they took it out on everyone and anyone. While generally considered a mass murderer rather than serial killer, Charles Whitman is an example of a "rage" killer.
