Yeah, saw "Dark Knight" last night, really *really* liked Ledger's performance, much more gritty and realistic. I still have a soft spot in my heart for the "first" Batman movie & Nicholson's Joker though.
Appreciate your candor on the weight loss thing, you have to start somewhere. I've been working on that myself. Two years ago I was up @ 230. Got on it for a while, and got down to ~215, then stuck for a year. Been working on it again, just hit 209, hoping to get below 200 by Burning Man time.
In my experience, the main trouble comes with expectation - it just takes time, and it's easy to get frustrated. I've found that it helps me to think of it like this: If I can lose just one pound per week, then in a year I would have lost 50 pounds, which is significant.
My biggest problem has been removing the emotional component of my eating - this gut reaction that if I don't eat until I'm full, then I'm going to starve. So I've been limiting myself to a small bowl of cereal in the morning, a cup of vegetarian soup or a salad at lunch, and then something reasonable for dinner. If I don't think about it too much, it's not a problem, and I've actually developed a greater taste for vegetables. It helps that we have a great salad bar at work though...
Anyhow, more power to you. I need you get healthy & live a long time so I have someone to whack with my cane. :)
Heh.. Same night as Chuck went to see Dark Knight we did too. I liked the performance in the show by all the major actors. I thought they really did a good job and the story brought me close to the characters than I have before in a show.
For the weight loss, if you need an exercise buddy I'm more than willing to give it a go. I need to loose a shit ton of weight myself. Clocked in at 329 on the scales at the docs the other day and while I don't feel like I'm gonna die right away or anytime soon I really could get back down to my ideal weight for me of 250.
And Veggies are the bomb!! We went to the farmers market the other day and picked up some really good produce. Large snap peas, some Cherries ( Rainer ) of course. The veggies are local grown, cheap and "HELLA" tasty!!
The movie ruled, Heath Ledger kicked major ass and really sold "insane" and I agree the other batman's were horrible. Every time I think of the old batman's I hear "Bat Dance" by Prince in my head. *shudder*
I'm a writer by nature, a movie snob by choice, and a tech geek by upbringing.
I'm passionate about books, movies, cars, motorcycles, politics, computers, gadgets, the environment, women, and a million other things.
Here you will find my opiniated ramblings on all of the above.
